ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - UCF sprinter Aurieyall Scott is one of 10 student-athletes in the country named to March's edition of the Bowerman Watch List. Scott received mention in early February, and Thursday's news marks the first time she earned consideration on the official list for collegiate track and field's most prestigious honor.
She stands alongside an elite group who combined for a total haul of 17 individual/relay conference championships this past weekend. Scott is the second Knight ever named to the list as fellow All-American sprinter Octavious Freeman was selected last season.
The Bowerman, which debuted in 2009, is presented annually to the most outstanding male and female collegiate track and field athletes in the nation.
The Greenbelt, Md., native won Conference USA individual gold medals in the 60 and 200 meters along with a title in the 4×400 relay. She rose to the top of the NCAA leaderboard in the 60M with a blistering time of 7.13, placing her in a tie for fourth all-time among collegiate performers and giving her a share of the fifth-fastest time in collegiate history.
She is undefeated in five finals this season at both the 60 and 200M, which includes her career-best outing against reigning Bowerman winner Kimberlyn Duncan in the 200M at the Tyson Invitational with a then-world leading time of 22.68.
Already UCF'S most decorated All-American, Scott will head to this year's NCAA Indoor Championships on March 8-9 looking to add to her collection of distinctions and medals.
