ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF track and field team will kick off the outdoor season on its home turf Saturday at the Black and Gold Challenge.
The opener will take place at the newly surfaced UCF Track and Field Complex and among the competitors at the meet are conference rivals, Rutgers and Cincinnati, along with Florida, FIU and Jacksonville.
Live stat are available for the meet and the link will be placed on the home meet page. Heat sheets are set to be released on Thursday afternoon in the same location.
The events Saturday will begin at 10 a.m.:
The following events are on a rolling schedule from 3:30pm:
- 10:30 a.m.: Javelin Throw
- 12 p.m: Hammer Throw
- 1:30 p.m.: Pole Vault
- 2 p.m.: Long Jump, Discus Throw
- 2:30 p.m.: High Jump
- 3:30 p.m.: Triple Jump, Shot Put
- 3000M Steeplechase
- 4x100 Relay
- 100 Hurdles
- 400 Hurdles
- 4x400 Relay
Three of UCF's throwers will get a head start to the season when they represent the Knights in the Bulls Invitational at USF. Destinee Romain and Kalen Hambrick will both compete in the hammer throw, while Siaina Campbell will compete in the javelin.
Saturday will mark the beginning of the Knights' quest to continue their reign atop of their league as they transition to the American Athletic Conference. In recent years, the track and field team dominated Conference USA, making history as the first squad - male or female - to win four consecutive outdoor conference titles.
