+ VIDEO: Winston, Wooley
ORLANDO, Fla. - After sophomore Anne-Marie Blaney was tabbed as The American Track Athlete of the Week, head coach Jeanette Bolden honored senior Erica Winston and freshman Holly Wooley as the Knights Athletes of the Week on Thursday.
Winston posted the top time so far in The American with a personal record 2:07:91 in the 800 meters at the Pepsi Florida Relays on April 4. The Long Beach, Calif., native was a part of the sprint medley team that broke the school recorded and finished second with a time of 3:46.12.
Wooley began competing this spring as a walk-on and has shown consistent improvement under the guidance of assistant coach Johnny Gray. The Palm Bay native ran a personal best 17:33:56 in the 5000 meters at the Florida Relays, which her teammate Blaney won at 16:34.57.
In the video to the right, Winston recaps the Knights performance at the Florida Relays and the opportunity to compete in front of her friends and family in California on April 17-19. Wooley discusses the progress that she has made as a distance runner.
UCF is off this weekend before departing for a trio of meets in California on April 17-19. The Knights are set to compete in the Beach Invite, Bryan Clay Invitational and Mount Sac Relays.
