ORLANDO, Fla. - After a successful weekend in California, the UCF Track & Field team takes the short trip to Jacksonville for the North Florida Invitational on Saturday at Hodges Stadium.
This meet is set to prepare the Knights for the American Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships on May 2-4 at USF, but also the NCAA East Prelims that will be held at the same facility on May 29-31.
Junior Amelia Williams and freshman Siaina Campbell were selected as the Knights Athletes of the Week by head coach Jeanette Bolden. Campbell set the school and freshman record in the javelin with a toss of 41.01m/134-06 at the Beach Invitational, while Williams posted a personal best in the 800 meters at 2:12.40 and 1500 meters at 4:41.01 at the Beach Invitational and Mt. SAC Relays, respectively.
The Knights 4x100 relay team of senior Jen Clayton, sophomores Christal Peterson and Briana Vaughn and freshman J'Nea Bellamy begin the track events at noon.
Senior Destinee Romain starts the field events for UCF at 11:30 a.m. followed by Campbell with the Javelin at noon.
