ORLANDO, Fla. ( - The No. 18 UCF track and field team heads to New Orleans in pursuit of a third-straight Conference USA Outdoor Championship this weekend at Tad Gormley Stadium.

As the two-time reigning champion, the Knights look to become the third program in C-USA history to claim a third-consecutive outdoor title. Members Rice (2007-09) and Houston (2004-06) have both strung together three-straight championship seasons in the new millennium.

The Knights will be able to draw upon the experience they gained at the Indoor Championships where they picked up a total of nine all-conference accolades, including five gold-medal finishes by Octavious Freeman (60M and 200M), Afia Charles (400M), Jackie Coward (60H) and Sonnisha Williams (long jump).

UCF enters the meet with the proverbial bull's-eye on its back as the Knights currently rank first among Conference USA's top performances in six different events this year. Freeman (100M, 200M), Charles (400M), Coward (100H, 400H) and the 4x100 relay all sit atop the standings in their respective events. No other program in the league claims as many of the top spots.

The Knights have added some reinforcements to their jumps arsenal as resident jumpers Jen Clayton, Williams, Tomika Story and Jacquelyn Gilchrist will be joined by Freeman in the long jump and will be accompanied by Aurieyall Scott and Sheila Paul in the triple jump.

Scott, Paul and Freeman will take care of business as usual in the 100 and 200 meters along with sophomore Dominique Booker, who earned two all-conference laurels in the indoor season, and freshman Christal Peterson. Junior Amanda Leland is slated to compete in the 100 meters, as well.

Karessa Farley, who took all-conference third team honors at last year's meet, will join Coward in the 100 hurdles. Coward also will look to defend her gold medal in the 400 hurdles from last year's meet and will be joined by Aisha-Maree Frazier in the event.

Satrina Oliveira hopes to achieve all-conference honors in the discus for the second year in a row, and as usual, she will compete alongside Destinee Romain and Precious Ogunleye in all three throws events.
