ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The track and field season rolls on for a pair of Knights this week as they represent Team USA at the IAAF World Championships in Moscow, Russia.
Octavious Freeman, who recently turned pro after two successful years in a Black and Gold uniform, will compete in the 100-meter prelims on Aug. 11 at 3:55 a.m. ET. Senior Aurieyall Scott will make her second trip to Russia this summer as a member of USA's 4x100 relay pool.
Freeman placed second at the USA Championships in June to qualify for her first World Championships. Her personal-best time of 10.87 (+1.8) in that race marked the No. 2 all-time, all-dates collegiate best. It was the second-fastest performance in the world this year at the time.
Scott returns to Russia after earning gold (100M) and silver (4x100 relay) at the World University Games in Kazan in July. The performance warranted a spot in the latest edition of Sports Illustrated's Faces in the Crowd.
