ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - UCF head volleyball coach Todd Dagenais announced Thursday the addition of Mike Gee to his coaching staff. Gee, who spent the last three years at Cal State Fullerton, will be responsible for scouting and player development among other duties on the bench with Dagenais and assistant head coach Michelle Chatman.

"Mike is a perfect combination of exactly what this program needs next year and beyond," Dagenais said. "The time that he has spent at a very competitive collegiate program combined with his experience with USA Volleyball and USA Volleyball developmental will help us continue to grow as a program.

"He will immediately step in to a significant scouting, player personnel development and team building role," Dagenais added." Mike will add an element of West Coast recruiting knowledge and an area of recruiting responsibility that our volleyball program is ready to open up to."

While on staff with the Titans, Gee assisted in the development of the team's defense and passing systems and also assisted in the programs' recruiting efforts. Under Gee's guidance in 2012, the Titans accumulated 2,020 digs, a number that ranked third in CSF single-season history and 1,451 assists, the fifth-best mark in the program's single-season history.

Prior to joining the Cal State Fullerton volleyball staff in 2011, Gee spent three highly successful years as the head coach at Bishop O'Dowd High School in Oakland, Calif. In three seasons at the helm of the Bishop O'Dowd volleyball program, Gee's teams compiled a 99-27 overall record and produced three consecutive Hayward Area League and North Coast Section titles, going undefeated in league play from 2008 to 2010.

Gee has also served as the Youth A2 assistant coach and lead tryout coach for the USA Volleyball Girls' High Performance Program since 2005. Gee and Dagenais have extensive experience working together at USA High Performance Summer Camps.

At the club level, Gee served as a head coach, head technical trainer and an assistant coach for the Golden Bear Volleyball Club from 2003-2011. He helped over 40 junior club players sign at the Div. I and II levels, including Cal first-team All-American outside hitter Tarah Murrey.

Gee, 29, is a graduate of Cal (2008) with a degree in psychology.
