ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – UCF head volleyball coach Todd Dagenais announced Friday that Middle Tennessee State University transfer Jale Hervey will be joining the Knights for the 2014 season. Dagenais noted Harvey’s ability at the outside hitting position, as the Knights look to enhance their offense this upcoming season.
“We knew that one of the most important components of our offseason was to strengthen our outside hitting group in terms of depth and experience,” Dagenais said. “Jale was very competitive at her former school and very competitive in a tough volleyball conference. That experience and confidence is going to really help our program heading into this fall.”
The Huntsville, Alabama native, is coming off of a very successful freshman campaign as an outside hitter for the Blue Raiders. After appearing in all 114 sets and each of the team’s 30 matches, Hervey was named to the Conference USA All-Freshman Team.
Hervey quickly became one of the top offensive threats for Middle Tennessee, ranking second on the team as a freshman with 342 kills, averaging 3.0 kills per set. She recorded a single-game, career-high 20 kills vs. Southern Miss.
