“The change to the new conference will give us some new and exciting opponents,” head coach Todd Dagenais said. “We are looking forward to competing at a higher level, and against nationally ranked teams in The American. We believe that the preseason schedule will allow us to give young players a chance to show their stuff, but also give us an opportunity to prepare for some high level competition too.”
After an impressive run to the Conference USA Championship match a year ago, UCF returns three of its top offensive players, including NCAA All-America Honorable Mention Delaina Sarden in the middle. The Knights will host 17 regular-season matches at The Venue at UCF, including nine American Athletic Conference contests.
UCF will begin its time in The American on Sept. 27 versus rival USF at home. The Knights played a thrilling five-set match against the Bulls last season and are excited to renew the “War on I-4” series as league foes. UCF returns to Tampa on Nov. 1.
Season tickets, which start at only $30, are currently available online or calling 407-UCF-1000. Fans can also purchase season tickets to the reserved courtside section for just $40. Youth (aged 2-17) tickets are $15. All ticket package options also come with one premium t-shirt.
The Black and Gold will open the season at home, facing Alabama State, Valparaiso, UAPB and in-state foe North Florida at the Holiday Inn Select/UCF Invitational on Aug. 30-31.
On Sept. 6, the Knights will continue their season-opening homestand by facing George Washington, Elon and Stephen F. Austin and Jacksonville as part of the Holiday Inn Select/UCF Classic. The Knights will then head out of state for a tournament hosted by Georgia State in Atlanta Sept. 13-14. UCF will face the host Panthers, as well as Clemson, Buffalo and Davidson at the event.
Also visiting The Venue at UCF for conference contests are Connecticut (Oct. 4), Rutgers (Oct. 6), Temple (Oct. 25), Memphis (Oct. 27), Louisville (Nov. 15), Cincinnati (Nov. 17), SMU (Nov. 22) and Houston (Nov. 24) will. The NCAA tournament begins on Dec. 5 and runs through Dec. 21.
