ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - The UCF volleyball team hit the hardwood for the first practice of the 2014 season on Thursday. For the senior class, it was their last first practice in Knight gear.
Middle blocker Kaye-Alese Green enters her senior season with a bittersweet feeling.
"It's amazing that I've been here for five years," Green said. "I can't believe the time has flown by so fast."
Currently pursuing a master's degree, Green is involved in numerous extracurricular activities and was awarded Order of Pegasus last spring. She said it is strange to enter the season as a graduate student, but that she is fully focused on making this year a great one.
"I'm really, really committed to being here with these girls and making this season something to remember for a lifetime," she said.
Green said that she loves playing in rivalry games, which is why playing at USF is one of her favorite road trips. Playing at The Venue, especially in big games, is her favorite. Last season, UCF set a school record for attendance as 1,669 fans watched the Knights defeat in-state rival USF. Green said the atmosphere at The Venue was great and hopes for more of the same this season.
"There's nothing better for me than playing in a packed house," Green said. "For me, there's nothing better than rallying up the fans and building their pride in you."
UCF Volleyball, which is presented by Radisson-UCF Area, opens the season at The Venue with the Radisson UCF Invitational on Aug. 29 and 30.
