ORLANDO, Fla. ( - In preparation for the big weekend ahead, The Venue at UCF got a facelift last week, including a new paint job and a good cleaning. Fans can check out the new look of the facility Friday during the UCF volleyball match vs. Marshall set to get underway at 7 p.m. The match against the Thundering Herd will also serve as the opening ceremony for volleyball's Alumni Weekend, highlighted by the dropping of the 1978 AIAW National Championship banner.

If curious spectators cannot make the match Friday, they will have numerous chances throughout the weekend to catch a glimpse of the overhaul. The volleyball-only facility will also play host to the volleyball squad's first Alumni Match Saturday morning at 10 a.m., with three generations of athletes already scheduled to participate. Fans are also encouraged to take in the Knights' practice later in the day from 1:30-3 p.m., before heading over to the football game at 3:30 p.m.

Sunday also serves as a golden opportunity for the public to view The Venue's new look, as the Knights will challenge Conference USA-foe East Carolina at 1 p.m. During the event, all alumni in attendance will be recognized for their contributions and loyalty to the UCF volleyball program and to the University.

With a 10-6 record on the season, the Knights are off to their best start and have posted their most wins since 2003, when the team concluded the season with a 23-7 mark and a trip to the NCAA Tournament. In league play, the Black and Gold holds a 2-1 record through its first three contests, which includes a sweep over C-USA's top-ranked team, Tulsa, last Sunday.

The first 500 fans to enter the Knights' volleyball game Friday will get a `Champions Play Here' rally towel from Centex.
