Fred Donnell joined the UCF sports medicine staff in April 2022 and primarily works with the football team.
Donnell’s experience as an athletic trainer includes football at the collegiate and professional levels. He served as a summer intern for the Tennessee Titans and seasonal assistant athletic trainer for the Atlanta Falcons. In between his two-year stint in Atlanta, Donnell worked with the Tampa Bay Vipers of the XFL as a seasonal assistant athletic trainer.
Prior to arriving at UCF, he was an assistant athletic trainer for the football and baseball teams at Coastal Carolina University. His previous experience also includes working as a medical liaison at the 2019 NCAA Women’s Final Four.
Donnell earned a bachelor’s degree in exercise science and health promotion at FAU and a master’s degree in athletic training from the University of South Florida. He is AED/CPR certified and holds CES and PES certifications through the National Academy of Sports Medicine.
