Knights Fall to UAB

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama – The UCF men's soccer suffered a tough loss to UAB Friday night at PNC Field.

The first half was scoreless with neither team finding the go-ahead goal, though the Knights outshot the Blazers five to two. UCF had a few opportunities but couldn't find the back of the net.

The squad came out in the second half looking for the breakthrough but an early foul on a UAB player saw the refs reward him with a penalty kick. The penalty gave the Blazers a one-goal advantage after Juanvi Muñoz guessed the right way but couldn't keep it out.

UAB would find a second just seven minutes later. In the 75th minute, Gino Vivi swung in a great ball from the wing that found a Blazers defender and then the back of the net.

UAB would seal the victory with a goal five minutes later.

The Black and Gold finished with nine shots compared to the Blazers twelve, coming up short in the final third multiple times.

The Knights move to 5-5-0 on the season and 2-3-0 in conference play. With three left on the season, UCF returns to Orlando for a matchup with Charlotte next Friday.
